Spending and book-keeping
I haven't been 'book keeping' my daily expenses and i think its almost time to do it.
First thing would be to draw up a budget which i should stick to.
A very vague allocation will be as follows:-
1. Parents 25%
2. Charity 10%
3. Myself 40%
4. Savings 25%
Will be monitoring in May 2012 and see how it fares :D
5 years on.
Im surprised. Really i am.
Surprised that blogspot actually kept my blog alive for so many years although i was inactive. Kudos to blogspot, really appreciative.
Its indeed a good idea to keep a blog which you can look back after a few years and realize what has been through your life. No need to wait till those last few seconds before we die to see our past flash past us. =)
Upon realizing that my last update was actually 6 years ago, the first thought to pop into my mind was what have i done in the last 6 years?
Lets see.
In random sequence, I have:
1. made new friends.
2. job-career hopped 5 times.
3. fallen in and out of love.
4. started a new business from scratch with 2 friends.
5. quitted smoking / clubbing / gambling.
6. realized that my best friends are still in my best friends list <3
7. added new people to my best friends list.
8. learnt that life is not only work, work and more work.
9. started to really love and appreciate my family even more.
10. grown fatter.
11. decided to reduce meat intake and try turning vegetarian.
12. learnt to love the environment more.
13. changed the whole layout of my bedroom.
14. gone to USA for a month.
15. baked cakes and muffins.
16. watched musicals.
17. the truth behind doing good.
Came across this article in my friend's Facebook post today, "30 things every woman should have and should know by the time she's 30", as the age draws nearer, this article serves as a checklist to tick off.
Credits to Pamela Redmond Satran who wrote the article for Glamour in 1997. Seems like some things don't really change.
By 30, you should have:
- One old boyfriend you can imagine going back to and one who reminds you of how far you’ve come.
- A decent piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in your family.
- Something perfect to wear if the employer or man of your dreams wants to see you in an hour.
- A purse, a suitcase and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.
- A youth you’re content to move beyond.
- A past juicy enough that you’re looking forward to retelling it in your old age.
- The realization that you are actually going to have an old age—and some money set aside to help fund it. CPF counts right? :P
- An e-mail address, a voice mailbox and a bank account—all of which nobody has access to but you.
- A résumé that is not even the slightest bit padded.
- One friend who always makes you laugh and one who lets you cry.
- A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill and a black lace bra.
- Something ridiculously expensive that you bought for yourself, just because you deserve it.

By 30, you should know:

- When to try harder and when to walk away.
- How to kiss in a way that communicates perfectly what you would and wouldn’t like to happen next.
- The names of: the secretary of state, your great-grandmother and the best tailor in town. i shall go ask for my great grandmother's name.
- How to live alone, even if you don’t like to.
- How to take control of your own birthday.
- That you can’t change the length of your calves, the width of your hips or the nature of your parents.
- That your childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.
- What you would and wouldn’t do for money or love.
- That nobody gets away with smoking, drinking, doing drugs or not flossing for very long.
- Who you can trust, who you can’t and why you shouldn’t take it personally.
- Not to apologize for something that isn’t your fault.
- Why they say life begins at 30.
I also learnt that you don't have to wait till 30 to begin your life. All you need is to have is some good fortune to have someone/something point you to the starting point. :)
4A Class Gathering - 21st Oct 2006
ive been looking forward to meeting my old classmates! 12 of us turned up on this day of deepavali and had our stomach filled with much food at a steamboat restaurant in beach road. Had some peeled prawns from our dearest weihao. haha~ and i noticed that weicong was the only one who bothered to wash his hands before eating. i must work harder on hygiene issues ba. So glad that everyone is having fun meeting up~ was a wee bit worried that it might be weird or something since we dont really meet up. think there are some whom i havent seen in many years~ old friendships are just so sweet~ probably we can have a chalet next year and get more people joining us. I think we have 39 people in our class that year. :)
Present (12/39 from left): Shitian, Leelin, Xiaowei, Weicong, Aihui, Dingzhong, Kayboon, Choryong, Junjie, Weichien, Qiusan, Weihao.
Absent (27/39): Weishun, Shiyi, Chuen Kiat, Yande, Daoguang, Guan Hock, Lian Chai, Ziyang, Yiwen, Lingling, Jialing, Shirley, Tun Shan, Xinyu, Wanying, Hwee Cheng, Beng Wee, Weixiang, Kelvin, Wanyin, Siti Norliza, Linda, Kham Leng, Soon Ching, Suxin, Wee San, Khairunnisa.
(luckily i still have our class photo around and of course, their names recorded.. haha else i'll be like weicong, asking who qiusan is when she's just sitting next to him.. =D)
Went to The Crew Room at Selegie area after dinner. The third floor is pretty cool when you have like 10-12 people together as its a private area with shared ktv with the rest of the pub. Chivas is at 160 with free flow of mixers and the singing and games began. Many of them are closet singers la.. keep saying dont know how to sing but when the alcohol kicks in, all sang with very good vocals~ esp when chor yong sang his alex too's song. sweet! weicong showed us how to play Animal Farm game and i came home realising that i played so seriously that i left a bruise on my right thigh. Thanks to Weihao and Chor Yong for the rides home too. Though im sure we left quite an impact on chor yong's car. hah~
Had such a sweet memory from this gathering and im sure it will be treasured. :D
Yong An 21st Birthday: 20th Oct 2006
i just realised we forgot to take a group photo.
however this picture is so darn cute with jason and yong an smiling so happily for the camera. haa~ nice yummy sinful cake from breadtalk. i think its an's 3rd cake for his birthday. lucky him!
Being 21 is nice. You can start voting for the election.. haha~ im sure he's been waiting for this day for a long time. We went clarke quay's este bar after the cake cutting, eating session. my gosh.. if you like canto pop and want a all-chinese club, this is the place my friend! pretty nice for the first half hour i must say, after that it gets to being too much.. and there's no dance floor so.. yeaps not for me :)
Gotham Penthouse
oh man.. wore this dress tt i bought while out for DINNER with sylvia.. ended up buying so much clothes.. argh. spendthrift! and it was something which i had commented wasnt too pretty to someone else a while back.. sylvia says its nice and i bought.. oh man have i gone wrong somewhere? oh well.. anyway we were at gotham penthouse last night and there was not much people even though the music was really good! erm. in my context at least.. haha~ and yeah we shared the dancefloor with another like 7 people? oh well jonathan counted and there was 7 others.. and 5 of us. the next time we go.. i think we'll have to bring our own people.. to make up the crowd. it aint too bad if the whole place is people we know right..
speaking of knowing almost everyone in a place.. Thumper! went thumper just now with jon and his friends, eleanor and jingyi. almost everyone knows everyone since everyone is there almost every thursday. its pretty cool.. my first time and there was this guy named mervyn asking how i liked the place.. i replied not bad`. after talking awhile, *probably he wasnt satisfied with my answer* he asked me how i liked the place again.. oh man! i laughed and thought he was trying to be funny.. but upon realising tt he was awaiting my answer, i replied "not bad" and stopped talking. is it not good to say not bad? oh wells..
im on a diet im on a diet im on a diet. yes i should cos i'll be having steamboat with my 4A classmates on saturday! arhhh! me and my big idea.. haha it would be good to meet them up again after so long though~
derrick wants to meet for breakfast.. which im always late for. haha should i show him that i can make it? or should i sleep more. decisions decisions. i love my bed.. but i should prove to derrick that i can make it for breakfast too. not that i've never.. juz seldom. haha

i love my moms home cooked food. my moms the best mom in the world! love her loads too! shes a great mahjong player and yet a good chef! haha though she seldom cooks now la.. always say that im seldom home eating.. hmmm that aint gonna change. recently shes been cooking this new dish.. pumpkin with little dried prawns.... hay bee... its fantastic and seems to be super low fat! satisfying and sweet and smooth and chewy! love it love it. haha~ i love my mom~
My Best Friends
ok. No. 1 on the spot would be jonathan tan. anyway this pic doesnt make him look good at all lar... haha hes the big mouse brother that i have. standing at about 185 and being a very nice character, hes a real catch. hes single now too.. tho i dun know how long that will be. haa! thanks to nydc and bernie tt brought him into my life! entered in 2000 christmas if i dint remember wrongly :D always go clubbing with him and this was last night at gotham penthouse :) got ang moh girl pick him up! hahaa
Best friends No.2. Sylvia Cai~ this is one very sweet girl.. Fair lady :D very bully-able. hee~ treats me to nice soups and all. oh man this pic aint nice at all.. we must take one new pic soon! know her thru our jjc 3 month course time 1999.. shes currently a scientist, eating with her is a pleasure as she'll make you feel good about your food :D love her loads! shes jux like the other side of me that i'll never discover.. haa~ very sweet. she loves peko poko and strawberry stuff! oh man~ we went for dinner yesterday but ended buying loads of clothes.. haha love ya girl!
Best friends No. 3. oh man.. y did i put numbers on them.. ok tis aint a flattering pic as well but its all i have of us. presenting Camella Fong! hah we knew each other through rotaract club of ngee ann polytechnic 2000.. but it wasnt tt that made us best friends. we are very similar in character though opposites in current appearance.. haha pretty girl with big character. naggy at times but all for the good. i love u girl! to many more years ahead.
so if you want to be my best friend number 4, pls send a pic of us together.. and i'll think if youre suitable :D
